Ben Hopkins is a screenwriter, film-maker and novelist. Born in Hong Kong. Grown in North London. Educated at Oxford and the Royal College of Art. Has lived in London and Istanbul. Now lives in Berlin. Speaks English, German, Italian, Turkish and French. His films include features and shorts, fiction and documentary, and have won awards at festivals such as Berlin, Locarno, Antalya and Toronto Hot Docs. Works predominantly as a screenwriter, writing films in all genres for other directors. |

My script FUZE - an action movie/thriller for director David Mackenzie - starring Theo James, Aaron Taylor Johnson and Gugu Mbatha-Raw, had its premiere at the Toronto Film Festival and will be released in cinemas in Spring 2026.
For the same Greek team that made the film INSIDE starring Willem Dafoe I have written YUGOSLOVE - a road movie following a couple journeying around the countries of the former Yugoslavia. We are now casting/financing. Also casting/financing is my adaptation of Edward Chisholm's A WAITER IN PARIS for producer Jason Solomons & BBC Films & Curzon, with director Peter Hoar.
I'm also working on a new script for director Pawel Pawlikowski - details to follow.
My last novel, GHOSTS, failed to find a publisher, which was very disappointing. Meanwhile I'm approaching completion of a new historical novel, set in the 17th Century Ottoman Empire.
